Arbitrage Betting & Bet Trading

Have you ever heard of Arbitrage betting? How about bet trading? Both are popular techniques for people who want to make a living from sports betting. Both are similar and yet very complex, in their own way.

They are also a lot more complex than regular sports betting. To employ these approaches successfully, you need to analyze the market swings, odd fluctuation, and more.  However, all that hard work pays at the end. Quite literally as these are some of the only ways to make a sure profit and win one over the bookies!

Let’s talk a little more about these two strategies:

Arbitrage Betting – Winning in the Bookies

Arbitrage, or arbing, is basically the practice of betting on opposing results from any event at differing odds. The key is to do this in a way that gets you profit no matter what happens at the end. For example, in this scenario we are betting on a game between team A and team B.

For this let’s consider two bookmakers. Bookmaker 1 offers odds of 2.0 for team A to win and 1.8 for team B. Bookmaker 2 offers odds of 2.0 and 2.2 for each player to win, respectively. The best way to get the numbers we need is to use an arbitrage calculator. With a total bank of $1000, the calculator recommends putting $525 on team A to win on Bookmaker 1 and $475 on team B to win on Bookmaker 2.

If team A wins, we receive $525 * 2.0 = $1050 on Bookmaker 1 and lose $475 on Bookmaker 2, which gives us $50 in profits. If team B wins, we receive $475 * 2.2 = $1045 on Bookmaker 2 and lose $525 on Bookmaker 1, resulting in profit of $45.

As you can see, we make a profit regardless of who wins. This is the core of arbing. Understanding and leveraging market disparities in order to benefit free of risk.

The Good

The main advantage of this procedure is the fact that it is free of risk due to the fact that you are not guessing, but rather relying on several sources of proven odds. You can also earn by discovering anomalies in odds or errors committed by bookmakers.

The Bad

The disadvantage is that discovering and exploiting arbitrage possibilities takes a significant amount of time, money, and effort. You should also have multiple accounts and be ready to gamble quickly before the odds change or the market closes. Not to add that bookmakers are aware of this method and have the authority to restrict your accounts, void your bets, etc.

Bet Trading – Working the Exchanges

Betting trading, in a nutshell, means buying and selling bets. We work this on betting exchanges and the purpose, like in arbitrage, is to make a profit regardless of the outcome. Backing and laying at different stakes is the key to this strategy.

Like this, traders can lock their gains or limit their losses before an event begins or finishes. For example, if a trader bets $100 on Team A to win at odds of 2.0, he or she will receive another $100 should Team A win. If Team A scores a goal, they can bet $133.33 on Team A to win at odds of 1.5, giving us a $33.33 in profits no matter the outcome.

The Good

You are not required to forecast the event’s winner or score; instead, you must anticipate how the odds will shift as the game progresses. There are various tools available now to assist you in analyzing the chances, market fluctuations, and risk variables. And if you can close your position before the event ends, you can minimize your losses.

The Bad

Finding and leveraging on trading opportunities involves a significant time, work, and capital. You should also have many existing accounts and be able to bet fast before the odds change or the market closes. Competitors with greater expertise and/or resources will be difficult to beat.

Arbitrage betting & trading: Conclusion

Making a profession out of these strategies is entirely conceivable, but it will take a significant amount of effort and dedication. Using contemporary tools, however, doing arbitrage betting and trading was never easier. Finally, we recommend that you be diligent in your search for the best bookie for trading and arbitrage. Maintain your approach moderated, create a budget, and avoid chasing losses or acting rashly.
